Amos visits the Museum of Science

My work has a “Perks Office” where we can get tickets to all sorts of things on the low. I picked up a ticket to the Museum of Science in Boston and went out to have a good time!

The exhibit that I was most excited to see was the “Beyond the X-Ray” exhibit, showcasing the uses of ultrasound, MRI, PET, and CT in medicine. I had to play radiologist, I did pretty good I must say.

There was a nice little exhibit on mammograms:

This is the most action I’ve gotten since I was messing with —- and —-! But I kinda blew it. Anyway, on a more serious note: these lumps aren’t easy to find, especially the small ones. They might be benign (not cancerous) but women should check often and be better safe than sorry. An annual mammogram when you’re in your 40’s is a must! But I learned in this exhibit, doctors have a hard time catching breast tumors even with the use of a mammogram.

This showed you the concept of scales. The left tube has 1000 beads, the middle tube has a million beads, and the right tube has a billion beads. This is what I was thinking: ignoring my student loans, I have, lets say, around $1000 in my checking account. I was like hold up, does this mean a billionaire has THAT MUCH MORE $$$$ THAN ME?!! SMH I was mad salty.

There were a lot of dinosaurs chilling in the museum.

Here’s the homie with the scarf:

There was a really nice “Mathematica” exhibit:

It says “The theory of probability is no thing more than good sense confirmed by calculation” – Pierre Simon La Place 1796

This is an “AudioKinetic Structure”. I’m not sure what that means.

The view outside of the museum is really nice and there are park benches to eat at with this view (maybe I’ll return in the spring for a picnic?)

Check out my museum mini-movie!

I learned so many cool things! Including the fact that I am an overgrown 5 year old! Who cares?!

Even though I have no friends here, I had a so much fun today at the museum. You don’t need them to have a good time. Am I right?
